10th Reps, Wase and the need for Continuity

The quest for leadership of the federal house of representatives at the 10th Assembly jas kick started in earnest after the election and presentation of certificates of return to the various members who won from the 360 federal constituency across the country.

The contest which is normally keen is always between the returning federal lawmakers and ranking ones who have spent more years with versed experience, which no doubt will sustain the success already recorded by the outgoing leadership under the House Speaker,  Rt Honorable Femi Gbajabiamiala.

Under his leadership at the 9th Assembly, he was deputized by the incontrovertible, loyal, and unassuming personae , Rt Honorable Idris Wase representing Wase federal Constituency of Plateau state who had been in the National Assembly since 2007, laced with indepth experience, competence, leadership qualities and followerships across the green chamber.

Aside been the deputy speaker of the federal house of representatives, his passion of participatory democracy and activities across his colleagues stood him out in the assembly, as Wase on routine basis was found surrounded by his colleagues both in his private and official capacity, and often times his preference of collective bargaining among his colleagues not minding creed, religion, extraction or race.

Rt Honorable Idris Wase performed creditably well as the deputy speaker of the federal house of representatives by ensuring laws , motions and policies that had direct bearings on the ordinary Nigerians are been implemented to the later, and had played a leading roles during the periods he presided over the affairs of the green chamber, especially when the speaker was away.

For his loyalty, efficiency and competence, the speaker, Rt Honorable Femi Gbajabiamiala never hesitated by ceding the highest office of the green chamber to the deputy speaker either on official engagements within and outside the country.

As a dependable ally, deputy speaker and reliable member before his colleagues along with many years experiences, the deputy speaker had driven the policy thrust of the 9th assembly particularly on issues that boarder on mediation, resolution, interventions and decisions that will move the country forward.

At the 9th Assembly, Rt Honorable Wase was part of the success story in sustaining the January to December budget circle along with transparent fiscal policy enacted to maintain accountability and probity.

Cool , calm, accessible and accessible , the deputy speaker had played a leading roles in resolving trade disputes between unions in Health, Education, Electricity among many other departments of government that had returned sanity and averted perennial strike in the polity.

Idris Wase election in the 10th Assembly will translate to continuity of good and robust legislative ideas initiated by the outgoing leadership which he played a key role as the deputy speaker of the 9th Assembly.

His emergence will also lay a good example before Nigerians that ranking advantage will transform not only to positive development of his Constituency , but the entire nation.

No wonder, the deputy speaker advised federal lawmakers and Nigerians to strive to give their representatives many opportunities to continue to represent them during the visit of the Speaker of Ghanian Parliament to the green chamber in 2022, maintaining the more experienced, the more impact to the society, after the address of the speaker from Ghana who had spent about three decades in the parliament.

All hands must be on deck to support the deputy speaker of the house of representatives, Rt Honorable Idris Wase not only for continuity of robust legislation already started , but to initiate more laws geared towards the betterment of Nigeria.
