A 2023 Abia House of Assembly hopeful for Umuahia North state constituency Obed Nnaji Asiegbu, has picked the expression of interests and nomination forms of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in Abia State.

Asiegbu was a Special Adviser to ex-Abia State Governor, Theodore Orji and the incumbent Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu on E-Governance and hailed from Amafor Isingwu Ohuhu in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia central senatorial district of the state.

The Abia aspirant who stormed the State Secretariat of the PDP located at Finbars road in Umuahia, the state capital, on Tuesday, was flanked by party members and teeming supporters across the wards in Umuahia North state Constituency, and as well as socio-cultural and political groups rallying supports for his emergence as candidate and representative of Umuahia central state constituency in the forthcoming party’s primaries and main general election in 2023.

Mr Asiegbu will succeed the two-term current member representing the state Constituency at the House of Assembly, Hon Kelechi Onuzuruike if he clinch the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party in the upcoming primary election, and also secure a win in the main 2023 elections.

Hon Onuzuruike who hailed the same ohuhu clan with the 2023 hopeful (Asiegbu), is being rumoured of nursing interest to occupy seat of the Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency in House of Representatives come 2023.

The Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency seat is currently zoned to Ohuhu extraction in Umuahia north LGA of the state.

Meanwhile, addressing umuahia north constituents from Amafor Isingwu, the Abia Assembly hopeful, Mr. Obed Asiegbu, promised effective and responsive representation if supported to pick the PDP ticket and emerge successfully in the coming election.

He promised that he will deploy his contacts, sagacity and experience and also use his political development organizations to attract sustainable development and empowerment to Ohuhu,

Asiegbu, said as one who has been in the grassroots and in the public service system, he understands the Public Sector and the workings of government and will use his political contacts and other contacts to lobby and attract developmental projects to Ohuhu.

He further stated that he had in the past used his position as a Special Assistant to the Governor, to attract meaningful development, empowerment and employment to Ohuhu and if given an elective position he will perform more effectively with humility and birth programs and activities that will engender human capital and infrastructural development in Umuahia North state Constituency and at the same time promote unity amongst Ndi Ohuhu.

His words: “Without sounding immodest, everybody knows I am a youth advocate and a die-hard defender of the Ohuhu course. I have assisted graduates from Umuahia north state constituency to get jobs into ministries of Government, and I have also ensured that every time empowerment programme is being shared out by the State government, I make sure Indigenes of Umuahia North state constituency are not shortchanged.

“I have also attracted university scholarships to our indigent people of Ohuhu clan (Umuahia north constituency), including Infrastructures and rebuilding of schools, created framework that helped to increase school enrolment, these things are all verifiable”.
