President of the Kogi State Cooperative Federation of Nigeria, Chief Babaniyi Asorose has promised to initiate programmes and policies that would restore the lost glory of the Federation.
Chief Asorose stated this while speaking with newsmen in Lokoja.
He said the Federation is currently witnessing a period of turbulence occasioned by inordinate ambition and factional leaders who are bent on clogging the wheels of progress of the association.
According to him, the election that brought him in as the president was free and fair but was soon challenged by some set of elders of the Federation led by Chief Joseph Bello.
He explained that his decision to set up a committee to recover the assets of the Federation that were illegally sold did not go down well with some members, resulting in their decision to frustrate him and his administration.
He maintained that the constitution of the Federation does not allow room for two annual general meetings, vowing that he will constitutionally defend his mandate.
Chief Asorose assured members of his determination to attract relevant agencies that would benefit the Federation emphasising that the loan scheme, livestock production training programme as well as the federal government’s five billion loan scheme would soon be realised.
