2023: Atiku promises to resuscitate Ajaokuta Steel Company

…..Receives former Deputy Gov. Speaker, Council Chairman back to PDP.

IDRIS AHMED, LOKOJA.

The former Vice President of Nigeria, who is the standard flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the February Presidential election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has promised Nigerians that the Ajaokuta Steel Company in Kogi state will be resuscitated if voted in to power

Addressing the mammoth crowd of the Peoples Democratic Party supporters at the Confluence stadium Lokoja on Saturday, the PDP Presidential Candidate said revamping of the Ajaokuta Steel Company is on the priority list of the party’s agenda for the rejuvenation of the nation’s economy.

Atiku who was in Kogi state in continuation of his nationwide campaign for the Presidential election, said the revival of the Steel Company will be the best option for the economic growth of the nation in view of the importance of the product to the global economy and employment potentials for Nigerians.

While acknowledging Kogi as rendezvous for Nigeria where both the Northern and Southern citizens pass through, as well as the confluence of the two great rivers Niger and Benue, blessed with human and natural resources, Atiku promised to make the state an economic hub of the country.

The Presidential Candidate also promised that Civil Servants in Kogi Kogi state will be receiving full payment of salaries and other entitlements due to them if PDP is elected back to power.

According to Atiku, a $10 billion will be set aside for youth empowerment immediately he assumes office as the next President of Nigeria.

In his remarks, Atiku’s running mate,Governor of Delta state, Ifeanyi Okowa, acknowledged that Kogi people are with the PDP forced by the immensely hunger and poverty forced on them by the ruling APC government and therefore assured that Atiku with his wealth of experience as the former Vice President of Nigeria should be trusted to be given the mandate to salvage the dwindling Country.

As part of the activities marking the rally was the decamping of the immediately past Deputy Governor of Kogi state, Simon Achuba, Honourable Umar Ahmed Alfa Imam, a former Speaker Kogi state House of Assembly and a one time Chairman of Okene Local Government Council, Alhaji Yahaya Karaku.

Receiving the defectors, National Chairman of the party, Honourable Iyorchia Ayu, appealed to the party leadership and followers to forgive the defectors over their betrayals for joining the APC.

For their re entering the PDP, the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu handed them the PDP flags and ordered them to dance round as atonement of their sins against PDP .

The Kogi PDP Presidential rally was attended by prominent leaders and stakeholders including the National Chairman of the party Iochia Ayu, running mate to Atiku Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Senator Aduda, the two former Kogi Governors, Ibrahim Idris and Capt Idris Wada and their deputies, Philip Salawu and Yomi Awoniyi, Governors Aminu Tambuwal, Edem Udom among others.
