He, therefore, asks the people of Kogi State and Nigerians irrespective of tribe, religion and party to be part of history by coming out in their numbers to get themselves registered.
The former Governor noted that such a programme is a very serious business and a civic responsibility that must be attended to.
Idris bare his mind during the meeting of the former PDP governor’s forum held at a legacy house in Abuja during the week.
He said in as much as Nigerians are demanding the improvement in our electoral system, CVR qualifies individuals that exercise their franchise, as a corollary to all these demands. He maintained that the electoral act amendment bill when signed into law, will be a critical legacy for Nigeria and appealed to Nigerians to also do their part.
“It is when you vote, that you can demand good governance, provision of social amenities infrastructural development in your area, but with apathy, there is still way forward.”
He expressed worry over the reluctant attitudes of some Nigerians towards the continuous voter’s registration while pleading with them to work towards the success of the exercise across Kogi State and Nigeria large.
