2023: In Nasarawa Fresh Defection Hit PDP, As Speaker Balarabe Says APC Still The Party To Beat.

Ahead of 2023 general election the Nasarawa State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Honorable Abdullahi Ibrahim Balarabe has continue to received more members from opposition into the ruling party following his purposeful leadership style which has provided the state with huge opportunity for development of all kind.

The most recent one was member representing Karu/ Gitata constituency, who left Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) to his new party, All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, while receiving the Lawmaker, noted that APC remained the party to beat in 2023.

The Speaker commended Hon David Maiyaki, member representing Karu/ Gitata constituency, who left Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) for All Progressives Congress ( APC) during the House proceedings in Lafia, on Monday.

Alhaji Balarabe who read the defection letter of the lawmaker said that Hon Maiyaki left his former party to APC in the best interest of his people.

He congratulated the lawmaker for joining APC, assured him of equal opportunities and rights in the party.

” You have taken a wise decision. I congratulate you for the step taken as you have taken the best step and I want to assure you of equal rights in the party.

” We have catch another big fish as I always say, we in Nasarawa West will continue to be for APC.

” With the defection of Hon David Maiyaki, we have completed 10 state assembly members from the zone, all in APC, our doors are still open and am still expecting the remaining four members to join us soon” the Speaker added.

Meanwhile, APC now has 20 members, PDP have 3 members and while Zenith Labour Party ( ZLP) one.

(1). Western zone all the 10 State Assembly Members are APC.

(2)Southern zone out of the 9 State Assembly Members APC 6, PDP 3, and ZLP 1.

(3)Northern zone out of the 5 State Assembly Members 4 are APC and 1 PDP.

Hon David Maiyaki said that he has decided to join APC in the best  interest of the people of his constituency and the state at large.

Maiyaki, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Lands and Survey said that he has consulted with his people on his decision to move from PDP to APC.

In another development the House has received the nomination of Alh Yusuf Yakubu Esq. from Gov. Sule for confirmation as member, Judicial Service Commission.

The Speaker has directed the clerk of the House to communicate to the nominee to submit 30 copies of his CV  before closure of work today and appear  tommorow, Tuesday, June 22nd, 2021 for  screening and possible confirmation.
