2023 Nasarawa west rerun primaries: I’m confident of victory – Barrister Magaji

An All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial aspirant for west senatorial district in 2023 general election, Barrister Shuaibu Labaran Magaji, has expressed confident that he will emerged victorious during the senatorial party’s rerun primaries.

Our correspondent had reported a Federal High Court which sat in Lifia, state capital last Wednesday, nulified the June 4, 2022, senatorial primaries which declared Architech Shehu Tukur, as winner of the part’ys primaries for Nasarawa west senatorial in 2023 general election.

But Magaji, who was dissatisfied with the outcome of the primaries, filed a suit before the court where he alleged used of fake delegates list for Nasarawa and Keffi respectively.

Speaking during his flag – off of “meet the delegates” tour in his Toto home town of the state on Wednesday, Magaji, said he was fully prepared to participate in the rerun senatorial primaries.

He said he decided to embark on the flag-off of the “meet the delegates” tour from his home town of Toto, since the court had already directed Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct another fresh primaries within two weeks.

“And today, we are already five days into the two weeks given by the court to INEC to conduct another fresh primaries, which prompted to immediately embark on “meet the delegates” tour so that we can get their understanding. And that will enable me prepared while waiting for INEC to issue a guideline for the primaries,” he said.

According to him, the delegates that will vote during the fresh primaries are those contained in the authentic list that was approved the court, saying ” the delegates that are going to be use are those based on the order of the court.

Magaji, while appreciating God for seeing that he suceeded in his legal battle over the June 4, 2022 senatorial primaries, called on his supporters and APC supporters to conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after election.

He also appreciated the part’ys supporters, stalwarts and stakeholders for their prayers through out his legal battle.

Our correspondent report that the campaign team of Barrister Magaji, earlier, paid a royal homage on the Ona of Toto, His Royal Highness (HRH) Alhaji Umaru Azaki at his palace where he received blessing from the monarch, before proceeding to the local government secretariat where he addressed the part’ys delegates behind closed doors.

However, the monarch, who congratulated the campaign organization on the victory at the federal High Court Lafia also conferred a traditional title of “Dan Darman Toto” to APC chairman of Keffi Local government area of the state, Alhaji Bello Soja, who was among the entourage of Magaji campaign team.

The occasion recorded massive turnout of party faithfuls, party executives, stakeholders both within and outside the State, including union leaders, youths organizations.
