Ighodalo Donates Huge Funds Towards Resolving UNIBEN’s Electricity Crisis

The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has recently received a significant boost in its efforts to address the persistent electricity challenges that have affected the institution for years. In a heartening display of philanthropy and commitment to his alma mater, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the forthcoming Edo election and a distinguished alumnus, has donated a generous sum of N2.5 million to the UNIBEN Electricity Initiative.
The donation was formally acknowledged by Dr. Stephen Obeki, the Acting Director of Alumni Relations at UNIBEN. In his statement, Dr. Obeki expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Lilian Salami, and the entire UNIBEN alumni community.
“On behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Lilian Salami, and the UNIBEN alumni community, I write to acknowledge the receipt of the donation of N2.5 million by Mr. Asue Ighodalo to the UNIBEN Electricity Initiative. This donation will go a long way toward solving the electricity problem facing the University. Thank you,” Dr. Obeki stated.
The UNIBEN Electricity Initiative is a critical project aimed at providing a stable and reliable power supply to the university, which has struggled with frequent power outages that disrupt academic and administrative activities. Ighodalo, a prominent lawyer and founding partner of Banwo & Ighodalo, has been an active member of the UNIBEN alumni community and a vocal advocate for educational development in Nigeria.
