Gov Sule submits N382.57bn 2025 budget to Nasarawa Assembly, with education receiving largest allocation

Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule presented the state’s 2025 budget of N382,567,843,592.03 billion to the State House of Assembly for approval on Friday.

Sule stated that the total budget for 2025 was allocated into N159.97 billion (41.82%) for recurrent expenditure and N222.60 billion (58.18%) for capital expenditure.

“The budget allocation based on main sectors is as follows:
Administrative Sector: N80.14 billion, Economic Sector: N139.84 billion, Law and Justice Sector: N10.61 billion, Social Sector: N151.97 billion,” he said

The Governor praised the Speaker and members for consistently prioritizing the appropriation bill.

“I commend the Rt. Hon. Speaker and Honourable Members of the House of Assembly for their prompt action, which they always display whenever the State’s appropriation bill is presented before them for consideration.”

“I appreciate this synergy and partnership in our collective commitment to provide purposeful leadership to the people of Nasarawa State.”

According to Gov. Sule, the 2025 Budget aims to continue the recovery process, focusing on enhancements in education, infrastructure, agriculture, health, security, and technology sub-sectors.

“The allocations to the sub-sectors are hereby enumerated below: Education, Science & ICT – N78.16 billion, Infrastructure – N71.70 billion, Governance, Security & General Administration – N50.75 billion, Health – N36.20 billion, Agriculture & Water Resources – N36.07 billion, Environment – N27.02 billion.”

Other allocations include Finance, Investment & Trade with N26.11 billion, Information & Tourism receiving N19.36 billion, Law and Justice allocated N10.61 billion, Legislation getting N10.03 billion, Youth & Sport Development allocated N9.77 billion, and Humanitarian and Women Empowerment receiving N6.40 billion.

The Governor pointed out that his administration has achieved notable successes in various areas, including education, health, agriculture, infrastructure, peace and security.

“I am happy to inform you that the government is ready to implement the new minimum wage in order to meet the current economic reality.”

” As I speak, the government awaits the submission of the Minimum Wage Committee report, chaired by His Excellency, the Deputy Governor. I assure you that once the report is submitted, the government will promptly implement the committee’s recommendations for the benefit of our workers.”

” To stress this commitment, adequate provisions have been made in the budget, which I will present to you today. Sule assured that the budget would be fully implemented if it is finally passed into law.

Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, the Speaker of Nasarawa State House of Assembly, pledged a prompt passage of the Appropriation bill following the budget’s receipt.

” Your Excellency, under my leadership, the 7th Assembly will provide unwavering support to the state government, ensuring seamless execution of its policies and programmes, thereby guaranteeing our people receive the democratic dividends they deserve.”

” I wish to assure you that this budget will receive the requisite attention it deserves from the State Assembly.”

” I want to stress that all MDAs must work round the clock and always meet expectations by complying with the budget provisions.”

A statement from the State Sssembly issued on Friday by Jibrin Gwamna, the Chief Press Secretary, stated that the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, guaranteed a swift passage of the bill upon receiving the budget tagged “Budget of Economic Growth and Stability”.

” I would also like to commend the revolutionary reforms you have introduced in the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) sector, which have enabled Nasarawa State to join the elite group of states with impressive yearly IGR figures across the federation under your leadership.”

According to him, the records of the various House Standing Committees reveal that the performance of the 2024 budget is at 65 percent, which, I must confess, is quite commendable.

” Your Excellency, these records show that your administration has made tremendous progress in all key areas of development.

The Speaker commended Gov. Sule for his efforts in solid minerals exploration too.

” We commend you for putting Nasarawa State on the world map in terms of Solid Minerals exploration, which has led to the attraction of investors to the State.

” Furthermore, let me also use this avenue to once again acknowledge your security efforts in the State while I know that we cannot get it totally hundred percent.

” I will be bold to say that Nasarawa State is one of the most peaceful states in the country. It is therefore my hope that you will keep the flag flying” he said.

Speaker Jatau assured of the assembly’s total support to Gov. Sule to succeed at all times.

” As the Assembly will be willing to deploy any form of legislative intervention to sustain peace in the State.

” I want to re-assure His Excellency that for us as Members of Nasarawa State House of Assembly, you will continue to find us to be true partners in the State project as you strive to provide good governance for the State.

” While we hope for more of your support to the State Assembly, we must not hesitate to appreciate your great efforts so far.

” Which includes the remodeling of the Hallowed Chamber, the Office of the Speaker and the Executive Chamber as well as installation of solar lights in the premises of the Assemble Complex and the employment of more Staff in the House” he added.

It would be recalled that in Dec. 2023, the House approved N199.8 billion budget the for 2024 fiscal year.

Recall that on November 5, 2024, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State presented a supplementary appropriation bill of N156.5 billion for the 2024 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly for approval.

It is recalled that the Assembly passed into law a supplementary bill of N156.6 billion for the year ending December 31, 2024, on November 13, 2024.
