Rivers Govt: Supreme Court verdict does not reinstate factional Speaker
The Rivers State Government has clarified that the Supreme Court, in its recent judgement, did not reinstate Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule, the factional speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, and 26 others as lawmakers, contrary to some misleading reports.
This development has brought clarity to the political landscape of Rivers State, as the government has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the rule of law and respecting the judiciary’s decisions.
In a clarification made on Monday night, Dagogo Israel Iboroma, SAN, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, declared that the Supreme Court made no order whatsoever, and that this was the unequivocal position of the apex court.
He noted that the court’s ruling was the result of a meticulous examination of the relevant facts and the law, and that it was crucial to respect the court’s decision.
Iboroma’s clarification was intended to provide further insight into the court’s ruling and to dispel any misconceptions.
