The Ivorian presidency issued an official statement with photos showing Ouattara alongside cabinet members, directly refuting the false claims circulating on social media platforms like X, Facebook, and TikTok.
The meeting addressed key issues including the diversification of electricity sources and providing adequate housing for citizens.
Despite the viral misinformation alleging that Ouattara and the army chief, Lassina Doumbia, had been killed and that internet access was disrupted, journalists in Côte d’Ivoire debunked these reports, affirming the country’s stability and the absence of any coup.

Global Times Nigeria reports that these rumours had sparked significant online panic, with over 9,700 Facebook users discussing the alleged coup by Wednesday, but no official indication of unrest from the military or government was reported.
Ouattara’s public appearance at the cabinet meeting served as a clear signal to reassure citizens and discredit the false coup narratives.
