Engineer Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu, the Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, has staunchly defended the actions and decisions that led to the installation of the new Ohimegye Igu Koton-Karfe Kingdom monarch, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Saidu Akawu Salihu.

Bashir Gegu stated that the immediate past administration of Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello’s decision has fostered peace, stability, and development in Kogi Local Government and its surrounding areas.

Addressing mammoth crowd on Saturday, Commissioner Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu disclosed during a Sallah homage visit to Ohimegye Igu Koton-Karfe, His Royal Majesty Dr. Saidu Akawu Salihu, that the former Governor Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello followed due process in the king’s enthronement.

He also revealed that all official documents arising from the selection processes confirmed that King Saidu Akawu Salihu was legitimately voted by the majority of the eight ruling houses in Igu Koton-Karfe Kingdom.

Bashir Gegu further explained that a previous administration, which served before Governor Bello, had shortchanged the rightful king despite the clear majority vote.

Bashir Gegu, expressed his unwavering support for the decisions made by the people of Igu Koton-Karfe.

He stated that he did not regret supporting the action, emphasizing that it was the best decision for the Kingdom and Kogi LG

Commissioner Bashir Gegu announced that the Igu Koton-Karfe Kingdom will soon boast one of the best palaces in Kogi State upon completion. This project, he noted, was initiated by the Kogi State Government as part of its commitment to the kingdom’s development.

He further emphasized that numerous empowerment programs and key government policies are being considered for Kogi Local Government, aiming to uplift the area.

Commissioner Gegu appealed to the residents of Igu Koton-Karfe Kingdom to accept the decision of God, stating, “He alone gives leadership to whom He pleases.”

Commissioner Gegu also commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for the trust and confidence placed in both appointed and elected officials from Kogi Local Government. He assured that these officials will continue to be supportive and loyal to the Governor’s administration.

On his part, Barrister Muhammed Musa Tanko Osuku, the Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Civil Service Commission and a prominent leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State, described the occasion as a joyous reunion for the sons and daughters of Kogi LG.

Barrister Tanko Osuku expressed his firm belief that His Royal Majesty Dr. Saidu Akawu Salihu (King SAS) is a king for all, highlighting the peaceful nature of his reign and the significant development the kingdom is experiencing.

The legal luminary conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to God for the gift of King SAS, observing that his ascension has brought about a complete transformation.

As a former Chairman of Kogi LG, Tanko reminisced about the division among stakeholders in the past, but noted that King SAS’s leadership has ushered in a new era of unity, and he offered prayers for God’s continued protection and guidance for the King, that his people may continue to benefit from his wisdom.

Contributing, In separate remarks, the Ohinoyi of Gegu and Ohinoyi of Girinya praised God for giving them King SAS, whom they described as a unifying force.

The royal fathers seized the opportunity to pass a vote of confidence in King SAS, praying for divine wisdom and good health to enable him to continue leading his people effectively.

The Ohimegye Igu Koton-Karfe Kingdom, and Chairman traditional council of chiefs for Lokoja/Kogi federal constituency, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Saidu Akawu Salihu, appreciated Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State for developing Kogi LG and with aimed of leaving it better than he inherited it.

He stated that the Governor’s gesture clearly indicates that he is emulating the immediate past Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, who treated Kogi LG as his second home.

King SAS similarly commended the political appointees, starting with Engineer Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu, Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Hon Abdulmalik Musa, Executive Chairman of Kogi LG, Hon Barr. Muhammed Musa Tanko Osuku, Executive Chairman Kogi State Civil Service Commission, and many others, for their genuine support and contributions to the development of the area.

The Ohimegye praised the efforts of security agents in Kogi LG, and particularly appreciated the artistes from Kogi LG for their display of affection and area promotion.

He committed to continued support for them to effectively perform their duties for the kingdom’s advantage.

The monarch also thanked the National Youth Service Corp, NYSC, for their community support and various ethnic groups in Igu Koton-Karfe Kingdom.

He expressed concern over the abuse of social media amongst youths, advising them to channel their energy towards acquiring beneficial skills for themselves and their loved ones.

He stressed that youths are future leaders, and therefore should reevaluate their priorities to retain their title as future leaders.

Global Times Nigeria reports that His Royal Majesty, Dr. Saidu Akawu Salihu, organized a Sallah Homage event, gathering sons and daughters of Igu Koton-Karfe Kingdom and friends of the area to pay homage to the King. The celebration, held on Saturday at the Ohimegye Igu Koton-Karfe Place, coincided with the Eid-EL-Kabir festivities.
