SRU-FMC Keffi Holds First Hybrid Research Capacity Development Workshop

To enhance research skills among staff, the Scientific Research Unit of Federal Medical Center (FMC) Keffi organized its first Hybrid Research Capacity Development Workshop.

The three-day event, held at the hospital’s conference hall from June 17-19, 2025, focused on the theme: “The Role of Health Services Research in Evidence-Based Decision and Policy Making for Better Health Outcomes”.

The workshop featured sessions on medical postgraduate thesis writing, postgraduate thesis writing (PhD, MSc/MA, PGD), digital research tools, and career researchers’ manuscript development.

Prof. Akyala A.I. from Nasarawa State University Keffi, along with other distinguished personalities, delivered goodwill messages, commending Abdullahi Hassan, Head of the Scientific Unit at FMC Keffi, for organizing such an impactful research program.

In his welcome remarks, Abdullahi Hassan emphasized the importance of research and innovation in driving scientific progress and shaping the future.

He encouraged participants to explore cutting-edge scientific inquiry, covering topics such as qualitative research studies, digital tools in research, and principles and practices of health sciences research.

Dr. Yahaya Baba Adamu, Medical Director of FMC Keffi, stated that the workshop aimed to celebrate the spirit of discovery, collaboration, and innovation.

He noted that the platform would enable participants to share insights, challenge ideas, and forge connections that could spark new discoveries in research and medical advantages.

The event is set to conclude on Thursday, June 19, 2025, with a communiqué capturing the resolutions made during the workshop.
