Abia First Lady Ushers in 2026 with Lavish Gifts, N1m Cash for State’s First Baby
In a heartwarming start to the new year, Abia State Governor’s wife, Mrs. Priscilla Chidinma Otti, on Thursday welcomed the first baby of 2026 at Akirika Ukwu Primary Healthcare Centre in Ukwa West Local Government Area.
The newborn, a baby girl named Little Miss Oluebubechi Nwatuobi Excessgrace, arrived precisely at 12:43 a.m. on January 1, weighing a healthy 3kg.
Mrs. Otti marked the milestone with generous gifts for the mother and child, including bags of rice, milk, groundnut oil, sanitary items, and a whopping N1 million cash donation.
“This gesture is to support the mother’s nutrition and wellbeing during the nursing period,” she explained.
In a touching moment, the First Lady bestowed the name “Ihuoma” on the infant, praying for her to “grow in peace, grace, and favour. “Describing the birth as a “joyful and symbolic beginning” to 2026, Mrs. Otti praised the upgrades in Abia’s primary healthcare system.
She urged expectant mothers statewide to trust and utilize government facilities.
The Health Commissioner, Dr. Enoch Ogbonnaya Uche, lauded her unwavering support for the sector, noting it bolsters Governor Alex C. Otti’s reforms.
Centre Matron Ms. Kasarachi Emmanuel hailed the visit and donations as “timely and impactful,” while thrilled parents Mr. Nwatuobi Chiagozie and Mrs. Blessing Chinagozie from Itungwa in Obingwa LGA, expressed profound gratitude. “You’ve made our daughter’s birth unforgettable,” they said.
