The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Dr. Danladi Jatau, has disbursed ₦60 million as scholarship to 1,200 students from Karu/Keffi/Kokona Federal Constituency studying in various tertiary institutions across the country.

Jatau, who represents Kokona West Constituency, made the disbursement on Friday in Garaku, Kokona Local Government Area, under the Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau Scholarship Students Fund 2026 Project.

Speaking at the event, the Speaker said each beneficiary would receive ₦50,000, noting that the initiative was aimed at easing the financial burden of school fees on parents and guardians.

“Education is key to success. That is why I have decided to support our students with this scholarship to complement the efforts of their parents and guardians,” he said.

He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds to enhance their academic performance, while advising those who were unsuccessful in the screening process to remain patient, assuring them of future opportunities.

Jatau explained that the scholarship scheme was also designed to complement the efforts of Governor Abdullahi Sule in the education sector, commending the governor for his continued investment in human capital development.

“This gesture is to support the laudable initiatives of His Excellency in improving education. Education remains a collective responsibility,” he added.

The Speaker further called on the people of Nasarawa State to remain loyal to Governor Sule and support his preferred governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, ahead of the 2027 elections.

“Let us support the governor’s directive by backing his preferred candidate, Senator Aliyu Ahmed Wadada, to succeed him in 2027,” he said.

In addition to the scholarship, Jatau distributed exercise books to primary schools across the Karu/Keffi/Kokona Federal Constituency as part of efforts to promote basic education.

Several dignitaries, including members of the state assembly, local government chairmen, party officials, and education stakeholders, commended the Speaker for the initiative, describing it as a significant step toward reducing the financial strain on families and improving access to education.

They urged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and called on other public office holders and well-meaning individuals to emulate the gesture.

Earlier, the Legal Director of the Intellect Scholarship Foundation, Barrister Sunday Adeoshun, who oversaw the screening and disbursement process, lauded the Speaker for the initiative, noting that it would contribute significantly to improving educational standards in the constituency.

Some of the beneficiaries, including Husseina Isah and Haruna Mohammed, expressed gratitude to the Speaker for the support, promising to make good use of the opportunity and excel in their academic pursuits.

The event attracted a large turnout of political leaders, government officials, youths, women, and other stakeholders from across the constituency.
