2027: Ex-Kogi Gov Wada Dismisses Melaye’s Chances, Predicts APC Landslide
By Yahaya Idris
A former Governor of Kogi State, Captain Idris Ichalla Wada, has dismissed the chances of Senator Dino Melaye of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the forthcoming governorship election, declaring that the opposition lacks the capacity to unseat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
Wada, who governed Kogi State between 2012 and 2015 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made the remarks during a political gathering, where he expressed strong confidence in the APC’s ability to secure a resounding victory at the polls.

The former governor, who lost his re-election bid in 2015 to the immediate past governor, Yahaya Adoza Bello of the APC, maintained that the ruling party remains deeply entrenched across the state and enjoys widespread grassroots support.
He argued that Melaye does not possess the political structure or grassroots acceptance required to mount a formidable challenge, insisting that the ADC would suffer a crushing defeat.
According to him, the APC’s track record in governance and its popularity among the electorate would translate into overwhelming support on election day.
“We will deliver Kogi to the APC. The ADC will lose terribly because they do not have the capacity to compete with us,” Wada said.
He further called on party members and supporters to remain united and focused, stressing that internal cohesion would be critical to sustaining the party’s dominance in Kogi State ahead of the 2027 elections.
