Bashir Gegu Named Ambassador of Egbira Entertainers, Donates Millions at Ododo Album Launch

The national body of Egbira entertainers, under the Egbira Entertainment and Artists Forum, has conferred an ambassadorial title on the Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Abubakar Bashir Gegu, in recognition of his contributions to the growth of the association and support for its members.
The honour was announced by the National President of the forum, Ibrahim Mudely, during the launch of his newly released video album dedicated to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
The event, held on Sunday at the Millennium Event Centre in Gegu Beki, Kogi Local Government Area, drew a large gathering of stakeholders, entertainers and political supporters.
Mudely explained that the decision followed extensive consultations and thorough assessment of Engr. Bashir Gegu’s impact, describing him as a worthy recipient of the ambassadorial title.
He noted that the forum comprises various arms, including the Musicians’ President, MCs’ President, Film Actors’ President, and Pageantry President, with Jibrin Babalauya serving as Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
He added that the album launch reflects the Egbira people’s appreciation of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s achievements over the past three years, expressing confidence in the governor’s chances ahead of the 2027 elections.
Mudely also commended Engr. Bashir Gegu’s leadership qualities, describing him as a mentor who has positively influenced many youths within and beyond Kogi Local Government Area.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Civil Service Commission, Barr. Muhammed Tanko Musa Osuku, who served as guest speaker, highlighted the profile and contributions of Engr. Bashir Gegu.
He described him as a proud son of Gegu Beki in Kogi-Koton-Karfe Local Government Area and a committed public servant.
Barr. Tanko Osuku noted that Gegu’s impact spans key sectors including education, healthcare, youth and women empowerment, as well as facilitating employment opportunities for indigenes irrespective of ethnic or religious background.
He added that Bashir Gegu’s philanthropic efforts are extensive and difficult to fully enumerate. Describing him as one of Kogi Local Government finest minds,
The award-winning legal luminary called on youths and women to remain supportive of the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area.
In his response, Engr. Abubakar Bashir Gegu expressed appreciation to Ibrahim Mudely and the forum for the honour, describing it as unprecedented within the current administration of Governor Ododo.
He pledged to continue aligning his efforts with the policies and programmes of the state government.
He further commended the Egbira entertainment body for the recognition and reiterated his commitment to supporting the creative industry.
As part of his support, Engr. Gegu donated N2 million to the organiser of the album launch and an additional N2 million to Entertainers, Media and Associations present at the event to assist with transportation and logistics.
The event was attended by prominent political stakeholders, party supporters, Media and members of the entertainment industry from within and outside Kogi Local Government Area.
