In a statement issued on Tuesday, the group rejected what it described as attempts by some individuals operating under the name of the Kogi East PDP Elders Forum to impose candidates and determine the political future of the area through closed-door arrangements.
The movement maintained that the district belongs to ordinary citizens, including farmers, traders, youths, women and workers, whose voices and votes should shape the direction of governance.
According to the statement signed by its Director, Israel Evra A., democracy is sustained through popular participation and not political imposition.
“No faceless elders forum or small clique has the right to decide the fate of millions of people without their consent,” the statement said.
The group further stated that the future of Kogi East must be built on competence, fairness and genuine representation.
It added that if Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan emerges as the choice to deliver people-oriented leadership for the district, it would be welcomed by many as a long-awaited answer to the aspirations of the people.
The Catalyst Movement called on residents of Kogi East to remain united and speak with one voice in 2027, insisting that ultimate political authority rests with the people and not a privileged few seeking to dictate the district’s destiny.
