A former National Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) and ex-presidential candidate, High Chief Peter Ameh, has formally resigned his membership of the Labour Party.

In a resignation letter addressed to the Chairman of Labour Party, Ogugu Ward 1 in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, Ameh said his decision followed “careful reflection” and was taken in the overriding interest of national progress and the stability of Nigeria’s democracy.

He expressed appreciation to the ward leadership and party members in Olamaboro and across the country for the support, trust, and cooperation extended to him during his time in the party.

Ameh noted that his association with the Labour Party was driven by his belief in its social democratic ideals, as well as his longstanding relationship with the late former National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam.

“I remain deeply honoured to have walked part of this journey in his memory,” he stated.

The former PPA national chairman reaffirmed his commitment to Nigeria’s multi-party democratic system, stressing that his faith in its sustainability remains unshaken.

He added that he would continue to contribute to strengthening democratic institutions in the country.

According to him, his resignation was not motivated by personal interest or grievances, but by a firm conviction that political institutions must be built on trust, respect for agreements, and institutional integrity.

“As I step into a new phase, I thank the leadership and members of the party for the opportunity to pursue our shared aspiration of building a better and more prosperous Nigeria,” Ameh said.

He also wished the National Working Committee and members of the Labour Party nationwide success in their future endeavours and contributions to national development.
