A former Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, has called on married couples to strictly adhere to the ethics and values of the marriage institution to ensure lasting unions.

Balarabe Abdullahi made the call on Friday in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, during the wedding fatiha of Usman Muhammed and Saudat Ismail.

The groom, Usman Muhammed, is the younger brother of Muhammed Awal, an All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for the Nasarawa/Toto Federal Constituency.

Speaking at the ceremony, the former Speaker emphasized the importance of mutual respect, patience, and understanding among couples, noting that adherence to moral and religious principles remains key to a successful marriage.

Balarabe Abdullahi stood in for the groom’s father at the event, while Alhaji Hassan Saifula represented the bride’s father.

The marriage was solemnised by an Islamic cleric, Mallam Hassan Salihu Muhammad, who pronounced the couple husband and wife following the payment of a bride price of N500,000, presentation of medical certificates, and fulfillment of other Islamic marriage requirements.

In their separate remarks, Balarabe Abdullahi and the officiating cleric offered prayers for the couple, wishing them a peaceful and successful married life.
