The Immediate Past Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, has once again advised married couples to guard their unions against third-party interference, stressing that such intrusion often undermines the stability and success of marriages.

Balarabe Abdullahi urged couples to adhere strictly to the ethics and principles guiding the institution of marriage, noting that doing so would not only ensure harmony but also help in building egalitarian and peaceful homes.

He gave the advice on Saturday in Lafia while standing in a fatherly role for the groom, Bashir Aliyu Maigoro, as he formally received Bilkisu Abdulrahaman as his second wife.

In the ceremony, Balarabe Abdullahi, the Wali Opanda, represented the groom’s family, while Alhaji Jibrin Abdullahi Ndagi, the Talban Toto, stood in for the bride’s family.

Following the fulfilment of all marriage requirements, including the payment of a N300,000 bride price and the presentation of medical certificates, the Chief Imam of Middle East Mosque, Lafia, Imam Muhammed Ali, solemnised the union, pronouncing the couple husband and wife.

The wedding fatiha, held at the residence of Alhaji Abdulrahaman Babagana, located opposite Yoruba Mosque in the Millionaires Quarters of Lafia, attracted a large gathering of dignitaries, family members, friends and well-wishers.

Notable attendees included a former Chief Judge of the state, Justice Suleiman Umaru Dikko; the Permanent Secretary, Government House Lafia, Alhaji Umar Idris Onairo; and the Ohinoyi of Egbira in Lafia, among others.

Special prayers were offered for the couple, as well as for the peace, progress and unity of the state and the nation.
