A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and aide to the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Sunday Steve Karimi, Abubakar Idris Gegu, has commended the reconciliation efforts between his elder brother, Alhaji Abubakar Bashir Gegu, the workaholic Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources and Senator Steve Karimi, describing the development as a major boost for unity and political progress in Kogi West.
Speaking on Sunday after attending the expanded stakeholders’ meeting held in Lokoja, Idris Gegu said the renewed understanding between the two political figures had brought him immense joy and relief.
According to him, the misunderstanding between his elder brother and Senator Karimi had caused him concern for some time, adding that the reconciliation would now make it easier for him and other loyal party members to work wholeheartedly for the re-election of Senator Karimi during both the APC primaries and the 2027 general election.
He described himself as “the happiest person on earth” following the reconciliation, noting that the renewed alliance would foster greater unity and development across Kogi Local Government Area and the entire Kogi West Senatorial District.
Idris Gegu, an entrepreneur and politician from Gegu Beki, praised Alhaji Bashir Gegu for what he called his consistent ability to match words with action, stressing that leadership is best demonstrated through unity, loyalty and commitment to peace.
He noted that despite the prolonged political differences and the period during which some stakeholders promoted alternative political interests in line with the directives of their political leaders amid the misunderstanding involving former Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and Senator Karimi, Engr. Bashir Gegu had shown maturity and wisdom by embracing reconciliation.
According to him, the commissioner’s decision to fully align with Senator Karimi following the renewed understanding among party leaders demonstrates true loyalty, political maturity and commitment to the unity and progress of the APC in Kogi State.
He maintained that unity remains the greatest strength of the ruling party and expressed optimism that the renewed cooperation among stakeholders would further strengthen the APC and accelerate development across Kogi West and the state at large.
Idris Gegu also offered prayers for Senator Karimi, Engr. Bashir Gegu, the APC and Kogi State.
