Eid-el-Kabir: Labour Party Urges Nigerians to Embrace Sacrifice, Compassion, Unity

The Labour Party has extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration, calling on Nigerians to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, compassion, justice and peaceful coexistence.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Eluma Asogwa, the Labour Party described Eid al-Adha as a sacred festival that symbolizes faith, obedience and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.

The party noted that the lessons of sacrifice, selflessness and devotion associated with the Islamic celebration remain relevant in addressing the social, economic and political challenges confronting the nation.

According to the statement, Eid-el-Kabir provides an opportunity for Muslims and Nigerians generally to reflect deeply on the need for love, humility, tolerance and service to humanity.

“Beyond the festivities, this holy season calls for deep reflection, renewed spirituality, selflessness and greater commitment to the service of humanity,” the statement read.

The Labour Party observed that the country is currently facing difficult times marked by economic hardship, insecurity, hunger and rising social and ethno-religious tensions, stressing that the values embodied in Eid al-Adha have become more important than ever.

The party therefore urged Nigerians to show compassion and generosity, particularly towards the less privileged and vulnerable members of society.

It also called on political leaders and public office holders to govern with justice, fairness, equity and empathy in line with the teachings of Islam, which prioritize the welfare and protection of the people.

According to the party, this is a defining moment for leaders at all levels to rise above selfish interests and work sincerely towards alleviating the suffering of Nigerians.

“The Labour Party also calls on those entrusted with leadership and public responsibility to govern with justice, fairness, equity and empathy in line with the noble teachings of Islam,” the statement added.

The opposition party further prayed for peace, prosperity and divine guidance for Nigeria, expressing hope that the Eid celebration would strengthen unity and restore hope among citizens.

“As we celebrate this blessed festival, we pray that Almighty Allah accepts our sacrifices and acts of worship, grants peace and prosperity to our nation, and continues to guide us on the path of righteousness,” the statement concluded.

The party wished all Nigerians a peaceful and memorable Eid-el-Kabir celebration filled with blessings, mercy and renewed hope.
