Labour Party NEC to Meet June 11 to Ratify Primary Election Results
The Labour Party has announced that its National Executive Committee (NEC) will convene on June 11, 2026, to ratify the results of the party’s recently concluded nationwide primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Eluma Asogwa, the meeting was scheduled in accordance with Article 28 of the Labour Party Constitution 2026.
According to the statement, the NEC meeting will bring together statutory members of the committee, candidates who emerged from the primaries, party organs, representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), members of the media, and other stakeholders.
The party explained that the meeting would formally ratify the outcomes of the primary elections conducted across the country and approve the submission of the names of successful candidates to INEC in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act and the party’s constitution.
“The meeting is expected to ratify the results of the party’s primary elections conducted nationwide and approve the submission of candidates that emerged from the exercise to INEC,” the statement said.

The Labour Party further disclosed that the issuance of Certificates of Return to successful candidates for the offices of President, Governor, Senate, and House of Representatives will commence immediately after the NEC ratifies the primary election results.
The party emphasized that the forthcoming NEC session holds significant importance as it will be the first meeting of the committee since the successful conduct of its National Convention and the emergence of candidates for the 2027 elections.
It added that the meeting forms a critical part of its preparations and mobilisation strategy as it intensifies efforts toward the forthcoming general elections.
The statement reaffirmed the party’s commitment to conducting its internal processes in line with constitutional provisions and electoral regulations while strengthening its readiness for the 2027 polls.
