The lawmaker representing Toto/Gadabuke State Constituency in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Mohammed Garba Isimbabi, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Hon. Isimbabi formally communicated his resignation in a letter addressed to the APC Ward Chairman of Shafa Abakpa Ward in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

In the letter, the lawmaker stated that the APC had lost touch with the grassroots and no longer effectively serves the interests of the people.

He noted that the party’s platform is no longer conducive for him and his supporters to pursue their collective aspirations or provide the leadership needed to address the challenges facing the constituency.

The grassroots mobilizer expressed appreciation for the relationships and experiences he gained during his time in the party.

Hon. Isimbabi reaffirmed his sincere commitment to the people of Toto/Gadabuke Constituency, Toto Local Government Area, and Nasarawa State, assuring them that his dedication to service and their welfare remains unchanged.

He added that further details regarding his political future would be communicated in due course.

Global Times Nigeria reports that Hon. Isimbabi was elected into the Nasarawa State House of Assembly in 2023 on the platform of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) before later defecting to the APC in support of the administration of Governor Abdullahi A. Sule.

Within three years in the Assembly, Isimbabi sponsored and moved motions for critical development and infrastructure projects in Toto Local Government Area, including the establishment of a leadership and entrepreneurship centre, as well as a mini stadium in Toto town.

Before his election into the Assembly, Isimbabi had also facilitated the construction of a one-kilometre road in his electoral ward, Shafa Abakpa.

Despite his efforts to drive development in his constituency and across Toto LGA, the APC leadership is alleged to have frustrated his attempts to fully achieve his developmental goals.
