Sowore: Doris Ogala Urges Tinubu to Resign Over DSS Presence in Court

Governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in Abia State, Doris Ogala, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resign over the reported presence and conduct of operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) during recent court proceedings.

Ogala described the development as troubling for Nigeria’s democracy and judicial independence, warning that any action suggesting security interference in court processes raises serious concerns about constitutional governance and the rule of law.

In a statement reacting to the incident, Ogala stressed that democratic institutions must remain independent and free from intimidation, noting that sustained pressure on opposition voices could further erode public trust in government.

The Nollywood Actress alleged that the government’s actions reflect growing concern over the influence of activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, whom she described as one of the strongest opposition figures challenging the nation’s political establishment.

According to Ogala, attempts to suppress opposition through state institutions would not address Nigeria’s challenges but would instead intensify public demand for accountability and political reform.

She also expressed confidence in what she called a growing movement for change, urging Nigerians to remain committed to civic engagement and political participation.

“If they believe pressure and intimidation will silence the opposition, they are mistaken. Nigerians will prevail,” she said.

Ogala maintained that if democratic institutions are unable to function independently and citizens’ rights cannot be guaranteed, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should step down from office.

She further called on Nigerians to remain active in lawful democratic processes and continue demanding justice, transparency, and accountable leadership.
