Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. The platform was unveiled on Thursday in Asaba, with the Governor represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Emu.
The initiative is part of the Oborevwori administration’s broader commitment to deploying technology to strengthen public service delivery and increase internally generated revenue (IGR).
Digital Platform to Modernise Outdoor Advertising in Delta
Speaking during the unveiling, Governor Oborevwori said the Smart Advertising Management Platform marks a significant milestone in Delta State’s digital transformation agenda.
According to him, the platform will modernise the administration of outdoor advertising by promoting greater transparency, operational efficiency, and accountability in the sector.
The governor also warned that his administration would not tolerate fraud, revenue diversion, or unethical practices in the signage and advertising industry.
DESSAA Identified as Key Revenue-Generating Agency
Governor Oborevwori described the Delta State Signage and Advertisement Agency (DESSAA) as one of the state’s critical revenue-generating institutions.
He urged advertisers, advertising practitioners, and other stakeholders to comply fully with the agency’s regulations by making prompt and accurate payments through the new digital platform.
The governor further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working closely with local government councils to improve revenue collection and strengthen the administration of signage and advertisement across Delta State.
Cashless Platform to Eliminate Revenue Leakages
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of DESSAA, Hon. Sebastien Okoh, explained that the Smart Advertising Management Platform provides advertisers with seamless electronic access to the agency’s services from anywhere in the world.
He noted that the fully cashless platform is designed to eliminate revenue leakages, curb fraudulent practices, and ensure that every payment due to the government is transparently processed and properly accounted for.
According to Okoh, the digital system will simplify service delivery while improving efficiency for both advertisers and government regulators.
Stakeholders Applaud Delta’s Digital Transformation
Stakeholders present at the launch commended the Delta State Government for introducing the digital platform, describing it as a landmark achievement in the transformation of the state’s advertising regulatory framework.
They noted that the initiative will improve service delivery, strengthen revenue administration, and align Delta State’s signage and advertising management system with international best practices.
The stakeholders also expressed confidence that the platform will foster transparency, increase investor confidence, and support the state’s drive for sustainable economic growth through improved internally generated revenue.
