Individuals and corporate organisations have been urged to initiate and sustain programmes aimed at improving the living conditions of the less privileged and vulnerable members of society.

The Branch Leader of Fidelity Bank Plc, Lokoja Branch, Mr. Nuhu Omale, made the appeal shortly after the bank distributed food items to hundreds of vulnerable residents in Lokoja, Kogi State, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

Speaking at the event, Omale said the outreach was part of the bank’s “Fidelity Food Bank” programme, implemented in collaboration with the Kogi State Government to provide relief to vulnerable families and promote food security.

According to him, the Fidelity Food Bank initiative is a nationwide intervention designed to support disadvantaged Nigerians, adding that the programme has already impacted the lives of over 1,000 beneficiaries in Kogi State and is being replicated across the 36 states of the federation.

He recalled the recent visit of the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to Kogi State, where she inaugurated the North Central Food Bank Initiative, describing it as a significant step toward addressing hunger and poverty across the region.

Omale called on wealthy individuals, philanthropists, corporate organisations and well-meaning sons and daughters of Kogi State to emulate such humanitarian initiatives by supporting programmes that uplift the less privileged.

Speaking on the bank’s financial inclusion programmes, the Branch Leader explained that Fidelity Bank provides accessible credit facilities to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) through low-interest loans, including financing options that require little or no collateral to support business growth.

He also highlighted the bank’s “Fund Her” initiative, a women-focused empowerment programme designed to provide affordable financing for female entrepreneurs, helping them establish and expand businesses while reducing poverty and unemployment.

According to Omale, Fidelity Bank’s social intervention extends beyond food distribution, noting that the bank also donates income-generating equipment such as grinding machines, sewing machines and other household tools to enable beneficiaries to become self-reliant.

Some beneficiaries of the programme, Mrs. Ileasu Barakat and Miss Onimisi Joy, expressed gratitude to Fidelity Bank for remembering the less privileged.

They described the intervention as timely and impactful, pledging to take advantage of the bank’s financial literacy, savings and entrepreneurship programmes to improve their livelihoods.

They urged other corporate organisations to emulate Fidelity Bank’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, saying such interventions would help reduce poverty and improve the welfare of vulnerable communities across Nigeria.
