Oborevwori’s Security Investments Strengthen Policing in Delta, Says Police Commissioner

The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has praised Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for what he described as sustained investments in strengthening the state’s security architecture, saying the administration’s support has significantly enhanced policing capacity and public safety.
The commendation came during a courtesy visit by the Chairman of the Delta State Security Trust Fund (DSSTF), Hon. Barr. Daniel Mayuku, who led members of the Board and management, including the Executive Secretary, Hon. Barr. Samuel Osasa, to the Delta State Police Command Headquarters in Asaba.
According to both parties, the meeting was aimed at reinforcing the long-standing partnership between the Delta State Security Trust Fund and the Nigeria Police Force in improving security, protecting lives and safeguarding property across the state.
Speaking during the visit, CP Oyeniyi expressed appreciation to the Delta State Government and the Security Trust Fund for their continued support to the Police Command.
He also conveyed the gratitude of the Inspector-General of Police to Governor Oborevwori for prioritising security through sustained investments in operational logistics, infrastructure and other resources that have strengthened law enforcement capabilities in Delta State.
The Police Commissioner highlighted the Trust Fund’s role in facilitating the construction of a modern interrogation room and a state-of-the-art data room, describing the facilities as vital tools for intelligence gathering, investigations and crime prevention.
While acknowledging the progress recorded, CP Oyeniyi appealed for sustained collaboration in critical areas, including maintenance of operational vehicles, procurement of advanced technological equipment, expansion of community policing programmes and enhanced public engagement through digital and social media platforms.
In his response, Chairman of the Delta State Security Trust Fund, Hon. Barr. Daniel Mayuku, reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to supporting security agencies through strategic investments in infrastructure, logistics and operational capacity.
He said the Trust Fund would continue to partner with security institutions to ensure they have the resources required to effectively discharge their constitutional responsibilities.
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of the Trust Fund, Hon. Barr. Samuel Osasa, said the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori remains committed to implementing initiatives that strengthen the state’s security framework.
He assured the Police Commissioner that the Board would continue deploying available resources to improve security infrastructure and support programmes designed to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of security operations.
The meeting concluded with both the Delta State Police Command and the Delta State Security Trust Fund reaffirming their commitment to deepening collaboration in tackling crime, sustaining peace and strengthening public confidence in security institutions across Delta State.
