The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Dr. Danladi Jatau, has called on members and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kokona Local Government Area to remain united and accept the outcome of the party’s recently concluded primary elections in good faith as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.
Dr. Jatau made the appeal during a meeting with his supporters, party leaders and APC faithful drawn from across Kokona Local Government Area at his residence in Garaku on Sunday.
The Speaker, who recently lost the APC primary election for the Karu/Keffi/Kokona Federal Constituency seat to Hon. Daniel Ogazi, said he had accepted the outcome with gratitude and urged his supporters to demonstrate the same spirit of sportsmanship for the overall interest of the party.
He thanked God for preserving his life throughout the political process and emphasized that party unity must always take precedence over personal ambition.
“Politics is about service and party loyalty. I appeal to everyone to accept the outcome of the primaries in good faith. Let us remain united, peaceful and work together to ensure victory for all APC candidates in 2027,” he said.
Jatau Endorses Tinubu, Wadada for 2027
Dr. Jatau reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, declaring that he remains a committed member of the ruling party while urging his supporters to continue backing the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Nasarawa State Governor Engr. Abdullahi Sule.
He also threw his weight behind the APC governorship candidate, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, describing him as a leader deserving of the support of all party members.
According to the Speaker, APC members must close ranks and mobilise massively to secure victory for all party candidates in the forthcoming elections.
“Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada has always sought my support, and today I call on all my supporters to unite behind his candidature. Together, we can strengthen the APC and ensure continued progress for Nasarawa State,” he stated.
Calls for Peace, Unity and Religious Harmony
The Speaker urged residents of Nasarawa State to continue promoting peaceful coexistence irrespective of ethnic, religious or political affiliations.
He stressed that sustainable development could only thrive in an atmosphere of unity and mutual respect.
“We are all equal before God Almighty. Let us live together in peace, love and harmony without allowing our differences to divide us,” he added.
Supporters Pledge Loyalty to APC
Speaking on behalf of party stakeholders, the Secretary of Kokona Local Government Council, Mikailu Sallau, alongside Hon. Aminu Gaya, Hon. Ladi Audu and other APC leaders, assured the Speaker of their continued loyalty.
They pledged to reconcile party members at the grassroots and mobilise support for all APC candidates ahead of the 2027 polls.
The stakeholders commended Dr. Jatau for accepting the outcome of the primaries with maturity and statesmanship, describing his conduct as exemplary.
The meeting concluded with prayers for peace, unity and electoral success for the APC in Kokona Local Government Area, Nasarawa State and Nigeria.
Nasarawa Councillors Visit Speaker
In a related development, the Nasarawa State Councillors Forum paid a sympathy visit to Dr. Jatau following his defeat in the APC primary election.
The Speaker thanked the councillors for their solidarity and encouraged them to intensify grassroots mobilisation in support of all APC candidates.
Keffi Zone Progressive Forum Honours Jatau
Also on Sunday, the Keffi Zone Progressive Forum presented an Award of Recognition to Dr. Danladi Jatau, conferring on him the title of “Peace Ambassador of Nasarawa State.”
The forum said the honour was in recognition of his commitment to peacebuilding, unity, democratic values and inclusive leadership across Nasarawa State.
The Speaker expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to promoting peace, stability and sustainable development in the state.
