The Director-General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has expressed confidence that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori will secure a second term in office in the 2027 governorship election.
Oghenesivbe predicted that the governor would go beyond securing re-election, arguing that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) structure now within the All Progressives Congress (APC), combined with Oborevwori’s performance, could deliver victory in all 25 local government areas of Delta State.

He made the prediction on Sunday during a special Democracy radio programme monitored in Asaba.
According to him, Oborevwori’s administration has performed beyond the promises made during the 2023 election campaign, particularly in infrastructure, healthcare, social protection and economic development.
Oghenesivbe pointed to the administration’s road and urban renewal projects as evidence of its performance, citing the Effurun-Warri infrastructure programme, including the PTI Junction, DSC Roundabout and Enerhen Junction flyovers.
He said the projects, awarded at a cumulative cost of about N78 billion, were designed to reduce traffic congestion and improve connectivity along the Warri-Effurun axis.
He also cited the N59.7 billion Uromi Junction flyover in Agbor and the N39.3 billion Otovwodo Junction flyover in Ughelli as part of the administration’s wider infrastructure expansion.
Beyond roads and flyovers, the DG said the government had invested in healthcare, education, power, social protection and economic empowerment.
He specifically mentioned the D-CARES intervention programme, which he said had reached more than 208,209 beneficiaries through cash transfers, public works, livelihood support, community development and MSME interventions.
Oghenesivbe maintained that the combination of visible projects and social interventions had strengthened public confidence in the governor.
On the political situation, he said the APC in Delta had become stronger following the realignment that saw Governor Oborevwori and a large section of the former PDP structure join the ruling party in 2025.

He argued that Oborevwori’s performance and the strength of the APC structure would give the governor an advantage in the 2027 election.
“We are confident that the governor will win re-election and record victory across the 25 local government areas,” he said.
