The emergence of a replacement candidate for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), if eventually confirmed, will not alter the political calculations of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, the Coalition of Youth Support Group for Wadada 2027 has declared.
The group made the position known through its chairman, Comr. Jaafar Muhammad Loko, while reacting to reports surrounding the alleged resignation of SDP governorship candidate Musa Adamu Angba.
Reports circulating in political circles indicate that former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, may replace Angba as the party’s governorship candidate.
But Muhammad said the development should not be interpreted as a settled matter, pointing to unresolved legal and constitutional questions surrounding candidate substitution.
He argued that political parties must operate within the framework of the Constitution, Electoral Act, judicial precedents and INEC regulations.
APC Structure Gives Wadada Confidence
According to Muhammad, the APC has a significant advantage because of its established political structure across Nasarawa State.
He said the party had experienced leaders, grassroots mobilisers and members spread across the state’s local government areas.
He argued that political contests could not be won solely through sudden political arrangements or media visibility.
“Elections are not won by sudden appearances or media noise alone; they are won through organisation, trust, sacrifice, mobilisation, and a proven connection with the people,” he said.
Muhammad said Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu had spent considerable time building political relationships across the state.
He described the APC governorship candidate as a familiar and accessible political figure whose support, according to him, was based on years of interaction with citizens rather than recent political calculations.
‘We Are Calm and Prepared‘
The coalition chairman said supporters of Wadada were not disturbed by the latest development in the SDP.
“Whoever emerges as the candidate of any other political party will not make the APC or Senator Wadada lose sleep,” he declared.
He said the campaign team had the human and material resources needed to prosecute a competitive election.

Muhammad expressed confidence that the electorate would ultimately determine the outcome at the ballot box.
“We remain calm, focused, and fully prepared. The people will have the final say,” he said.
