As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to build momentum, former Executive Chairman of Toto Local Government Area, Hon. Aliyu Abdullahi Tashas, has announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tashas disclosed his decision in a letter addressed to the APC Chairman of Gwargwada Ward, Gadabuke District, Toto Local Government Area.
The former council chairman did not disclose specific reasons for his resignation, saying the circumstances behind his decision were best known to him.
He nevertheless expressed appreciation to Governor Abdullahi Sule for the opportunities he received under the administration.
Tashas recalled his appointment as Special Adviser on Conflict Resolution and his subsequent election as Executive Chairman of Toto Local Government Area.
According to him, he appreciated the opportunity to serve in both positions.
The former chairman said he would be leaving the APC alongside his supporters, adding that the decision was made with inner anguish.
He also offered a revealing description of his political philosophy, saying he could only remain in a “house” where his people were comfortable.
The resignation has added another talking point to the emerging political landscape in Toto Local Government Area ahead of 2027.
With political actors and support groups already positioning themselves for the next electoral cycle, attention is likely to shift to Tashas’ next political move and the direction his supporters may take following his departure from the APC.
