Former Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, has called for reconciliation within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Toto Local Government Area following the resignation of immediate past council chairman, Hon. Aliyu Abdullahi Tashas.

Tashas, who is from Gadabuke Development Area, announced his resignation from the APC on Monday evening.

The development has generated reactions among political stakeholders and party supporters across Toto LGA.

Balarabe Abdullahi, who expressed disagreement with Tashas’ decision to leave the party, appealed to him to reconsider the move and return to the APC.

He said whatever differences may have led to the resignation could be resolved through dialogue and mutual understanding.

The former Speaker also disclosed that he would soon visit Gadabuke District to engage stakeholders and discuss measures to strengthen unity within the party.

Balarabe said the APC could not afford to watch its members leave ahead of the 2027 elections.

“In politics, everyone matters; grassroots matters, because politics is local,” he said.

He maintained that members should see the APC as their political home and work collectively towards victory.

“APC is our home, it is our party, and our victory is assured by the will of Allah,” he said.

Balarabe also called on members to avoid allowing political disagreements to destroy existing relationships.

“It is obvious that people disagree to agree because no one is perfect. Perfection belongs to God Almighty,” he said.

He added that the party’s task ahead required unity of purpose, saying stakeholders must work together to unite the people and strengthen the party at the grassroots.

“Therefore, unity of purpose is paramount for the task ahead of us, and no matter what, we must unite our people,” he said.
