The Forum of Presidents-General of the 24 Urhobo Kingdoms has declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying its primary responsibility is to protect the interests of Urhobo communities.
Chairman of the forum, Chief Monday Arawore, made the position known during a meeting with a delegation representing Governor Oborevwori at the forum’s secretariat in Effurun, Delta State.
The delegation was led by the Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, and included the Chairman of the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, Hon. Solomon Igrakpata, and the State Director of Protocol, Chief Sunday Onoriode.

Arawore said the Presidents-General considered cooperation with the government in power necessary to ensure that their communities benefited from government programmes and interventions.
“As Presidents-General, our position is clear. We work with the government in power because our primary responsibility is to protect the interests of our communities and ensure that our people benefit from government programmes and interventions,” he said.
He said the forum understood Governor Oborevwori’s decision to align Delta State with the political leadership at the centre.
According to Arawore, the objective of the alignment was to strengthen federal partnership, attract opportunities and advance the development interests of Delta State.
Support for Renewed Hope, MORE Agendas
Arawore subsequently pledged the forum’s support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda.
He, however, urged both administrations to continue prioritising the welfare and development of the people.
The forum chairman said the position was consistent with what he described as the earlier stance of the Forum of Urhobo Traditional Rulers on unity, peace and support for the state government.
Akpowowo Welcomes Declaration
Akpowowo, who represented Governor Oborevwori, described the declaration as an affirmation of the position earlier taken by Urhobo traditional rulers.
“What the President-General has done today is to affirm what the traditional institutions, our Royal Fathers have said,” he said.
The Deputy Speaker said the declaration also covered President Tinubu and other APC candidates contesting elections in the state.
Chief Sunday Onoriode similarly said the Presidents-General had endorsed APC candidates contesting various positions in Urhobo land.
The development comes as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to generate declarations of support from groups and community leaders across Delta State.
