The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has disclosed fresh details concerning the discovery of the lifeless body of a man under the Katampe Bridge on August 26, 2026.
According to preliminary investigations by the police, the deceased had reportedly lodged at a guest house in Gwarimpa, Abuja, with a married woman identified as Mrs Rukayat Muhammed of Garki Area 2.
The investigation indicated that Muhammed was allegedly in a romantic relationship with the deceased and had reportedly saved his phone contact under the name “Safiyat.”
Police findings further indicated that the woman allegedly discovered that the man was no longer breathing and had died. Rather than immediately alerting the police or relevant authorities, she allegedly took the deceased’s mobile phone and left the guest house.
The deceased’s body was subsequently discovered inside the hotel room by members of the guest house management.
The police investigation further alleged that two hotel workers, identified as Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus, later removed the body from the premises and dumped it under the Katampe Bridge, where it was eventually discovered.
However, the exact cause of the deceased’s death and the circumstances surrounding the removal and disposal of the body remain subjects of investigation.
The FCT Police Command said investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and determine the individual responsibilities of all persons connected to the case.
