Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has outlined proposed reforms in security, education and the economy as part of his “Reset Nigeria” agenda for the 2027 presidential election.
Makinde spoke on Monday at the APM North-Central Town Hall Meeting in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
He said his proposed administration would seek to introduce a new security architecture, improve the education sector and rebuild the economy using data, science and logic.
The governor also said his administration would seek to reform Nigeria’s socio-political environment within four years.
According to him, special programmes would be introduced for women in agriculture, market women, widows and persons living with disabilities.
The APM candidate said his objective was to develop policies capable of improving the welfare of Nigerians while addressing structural challenges affecting the economy.
Makinde said effective governance required commitment and energy, pointing to his schedule during his North-Central visit.
He said he travelled from Ibadan to Abuja and subsequently drove for about three and a half hours to Lafia, where he held meetings with APM candidates in the zone until the early hours of the morning.
On Oyo State’s finances, Makinde said the state’s dependence on federal allocation fell from more than 80 per cent in 2019 to 65 per cent in 2022.
He, however, said the figure later rose to almost 80 per cent following the removal of fuel subsidy in 2023.

Makinde said that if elected president, he would begin a transitional government of national unity from May 29, 2027.
He said the proposed government would work towards a new agenda for Nigeria’s sustainable development.
“We can reset this country,” he said, outlining his proposed approach to security, education, economic management and the socio-political environment.
The APM North-Central town hall in Lafia was one of a series of zonal engagements scheduled by the party ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
