The Nasarawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chairman, Hon Francis Orogu, inadvertently confirmed in a press statement that a court order restrains the party from holding congresses pending the resolution of the ongoing court case.
Consequently, the majority of party members were informed of this Order through Orogu’s Press Statement, as outlined above.
A PDP chieftain and member of the concerned group in Nasarawa State, Mr. Aminu Mamuda Otaki said investigations have confirmed that Hon. Justice Shams Shama of the Nasarawa State High Court has issued an injunction restraining the party, its servants, agents, or representatives from conducting congresses at all levels, namely wards, local government, and state, for the 1st Defendant in Nasarawa State, scheduled for 28th September 2024, or any subsequent date, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
What are the consequences of the State Chairman’s directive for members?

Initially, the law stipulates that a court order remains valid until set aside on appeal. Consequently, our party must obey the order unless it is vacated.
Any attempt by the party to conduct elections contrary to this injunctive order will spell doom for the party.
