Katsina Governor awards Direct Employment to First-Class Graduate Turned sachet Water Vendor

Malam Dikko Umaru Radda PhD, CON, Governor of Katsina State, has provided immediate employment opportunity to Sham’unu Ishaq, an outstanding First Class graduate of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, formerly engaged in selling sachet water to support his family.
A statement issued from Government House Katsina on 14th November, 2024, by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Katsina State, revealed that upon learning of Ishaq’s situation, Governor Radda promptly instructed his Special Assistant on Students Matters, Hon. Muhammad Nagaske, to verify the authenticity of the viral video.

A verification process confirmed that Sham’unu Ishaq earned a First Class honors degree in B.Sc (Ed.) Education/Biology for the 2021/2022 academic session, as validated by the University’s Deputy Vice Chancellor.
After completing his National Youth Service Corps program in Taraba State, Ishaq turned to selling sachet water to support himself and his family.
Governor Radda stressed that academic excellence deserves recognition, not neglect, as he instructed the Head of Service to employ Ishaq immediately.

The Governor recently demonstrated his pledge to support exceptional scholars, offering automatic employment to nine distinguished graduates of Isah Kaita College of Education, Dutsinma, on October 12, 2024.
The Governor also provided direct employment to 9 First Class Graduates of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University during the university’s combined convocation ceremony, which took place from May 26, 2024, covering the 9th to 13th convocations.
