Honourable Aliyu Abdullahi Tashas, an erudite scholar and immediate former Executive Chairman of Toto Local Government Area, has announced that key stakeholders, especially from the Toto/Gadabuke State Constituency, have urged him to contest in the 2027 election, aiming to build on the good work he started during his previous tenure as council chairman.

Tashas announced on Sunday, while addressing his former political appointees at Gadabuke district, his stronghold, that he is under pressure to represent the people of Gadabuke/Toto at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly in the 2027 elections.

He acknowledged the strong and sincere calls from his constituency urging him to continue his service at the state legislative level in 2027.

The former Toto LG Chairman, stated that prominent politicians, movers and shakers of the society, including traditional rulers from the Toto/Gadabuke area, have reached out to him expressing interest in having him represent them in the 2027 elections.

Although he did not mention their names for security reason, he emphasized that these leaders were convinced by his performance at the council level to support his cause at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.

Hon. Aliyu Tashas stated that over the years, the people of Gadabuke district have consistently supported their brothers from Toto district, especially since Hon. Madaki Adah Goje left office. He called on the Toto district to reciprocate this solidarity by supporting their sister district, Gadabuke, in return.

He also revealed that he had kept his former appointees informed, recognizing them as a vital component of his grassroots network, before conferring with other leaders in Toto LG. He acknowledged the support of his former appointees during his time in office, affirming his commitment to remain associated with them.

According to Hon. Tashas, politics is about calculation while leadership is fundamentally about serving the citizens. He assured that if given the chance to serve, he will represent the people well, emphasizing his commitment to their welfare and effective leadership

“To me, as a former Chairman of Toto LG, I did my best, I never neglected any section. I took the entire 3 districts as my personal property to be cared for,” emphasizing his commitment to serving all parts of the local government equally and diligently during his tenure.”

He revealed that the people of Toto LG were his primary source of strength, noting that he achieved success due to their genuine support, which his administration received to the greatest extent in the area’s history.

Tashas, a native of Gade extraction, emphasized that his success in office was due to the collective efforts and initiatives of the Toto people.

The meeting, convened at the behest of his former political adviser, Hon. Mohammed Danbai, welcomed all contacts and former appointees to Gadabuke to strategize on achieving the 2027 task ahead.

Danbai expressed gratitude to the Toto people, especially the traditional rulers, who saw fit to invite their principal to contest the 2027 election and represent them at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.

According to him, the Former Chairman’s accomplishments cover the 3 districts of Toto, Umaisha, and Gadabuke, which will augment his desire to serve his people.

He described Hon Tashas as a gentleman who consistently prioritizes the welfare of his constituents when afforded the opportunity to serve.
