NSUK Inducts Pioneer European Studies Students

Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), witnessed a historic moment with the induction of its pioneering set of students into the BRUNON HOLYST Institute of European Studies, which took place during its Special Lecture Series titled “The European Union, A Reliable Partner for Nigeria and the World.”

The high-profile academic event, held at the university’s School of Post graduate auditorium, featured distinguished guests including Ambassador Gautier Mignot, Head of the EU Delegation to Nigeria and West Africa, and Ambassador Michal Cygan of the Republic of Poland.

The event underscored the growing partnership between Europe and Africa through academic and developmental cooperation.

In her remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, lauded the EU for its unwavering support to education and intercontinental collaboration.

“The Brunon Holyst Institute represents our commitment to strengthening relationship between Europe and Africa”. Today’s event is particularly exciting because we’re witnessing the first induction of Brunon Holyst Institute students” she stated.

Prof. Liman emphasized the significance of the moment, describing it as a step towards shaping a peaceful, educated, and interconnected world.

NSUK Matriculates 2,000 Part-Time Students

“As we celebrate the first induction of Brunon Holyst Institute of students, we hope to work towards education, fostering international Cooperation and Addressing the Challenges that face both Europe and Africa”.

Established in 2016, the BRUNON HOLYST Institute has spent nine years fostering academic excellence, with leadership contributions from Prof. Akaro Mainoma, Prof. Suleiman Bala Mohammed, and now Prof. Liman, which is a major milestone was achieved in 2023 when Brunon Holyst received his first doctorate degree award by management of NSUk.

The Emir of Keffi and Chancellor of the University, HRH Alhaji Dr. Shehu Chindo Yamusa III, CON, praised the institute’s vision and encouraged students to leverage their education for global impact.

“The BRUNON HOLYST INSTITUTE aims to project the revolutionary stages of the European society. We will employ the students to learn, internationalize and make use of the knowledge they acquire,”

He also extended gratitude to the Polish Embassy for their continued collaboration with the university.

Delivering the keynote address, Ambassador Gautier Mignot spoke on the values underpinning the European Union, stating that the Union is based on values, respect for human rights and rights of citizens.

According to the diplomat, based on legislations, laws, budgets and programmes for the benefits of citizens as well as foster sustainable development.

His Polish counterpart, Ambassador Michal Cygan, also pledged Poland’s ongoing support for the university’s efforts and pledged the continual support of Poland to the institution to enable it succeed.

The event concluded with the formal induction of the pioneer students into the BRUNON HOLYST Institute of European Studies, conducted by the Dean of the Postgraduates School and Director of the Institute prof. Abdullahi Maikano Ari.
