Kogi West Will Decide Its Senator in 2027 — APC Chieftain Idris Lokoja Calls for Fair Assessment of Karimi’s Performance
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lokoja Local Government Area, Hon. Idris Lokoja, has urged party members and stakeholders to allow the people of Kogi West Senatorial District determine their representation in 2027, while calling for a fair and objective assessment of Senator Sunday Steve Karimi’s performance in office.
Speaking on Friday, Hon. Idrid Lokoja stressed that although differing opinions are inevitable in a democratic setting, the choice of who represents the district ultimately rests with the electorate.
He cautioned against undue interference, emphasizing the need to respect democratic processes.
“The people of Kogi West have the constitutional right to choose their Senator at the appropriate time. It is important that we allow the process to run its course without external influence,” he said.
The APC stalwart acknowledged what he described as notable strides recorded by Senator Karimi since assuming office, particularly in the areas of infrastructure development and human capital empowerment. According to him, the lawmaker’s interventions have had a positive impact across several communities in the district.
He cited projects aimed at improving road networks, access to potable water, and electricity supply, as well as initiatives targeted at empowering youths and women through skills acquisition programmes and support for small-scale businesses.
“On the floor of the Senate, Senator Karimi has consistently projected the interests of Kogi West.
His engagements reflect a commitment to addressing the needs and aspirations of our people,” Hon. Lokoja noted.
He further described the senator as a dedicated public servant who has earned the confidence of many constituents, adding that his track record positions him as a strong contender for a second term.
Hon. Lokoja, however, emphasized the importance of unity within the APC, urging party members in Lokoja LGA and across Kogi West to close ranks ahead of future elections.
“Internal cohesion is critical to our continued success as a party. We must remain focused, united, and committed to the collective interest of the APC,” he said.
