2027: PDP Commences Sale of Nomination Forms as Defections Rise in Kogi

The Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has begun the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination forms ahead of the 2027 National and State Assembly elections.

Aspirants vying for elective positions were observed at the party’s state secretariat obtaining forms to contest for seats in the Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly.

Speaking on the development, the State Chairman, Hon. Muhammed Sanni Gambo, said the high turnout of aspirants signals a renewed confidence in the PDP and reflects the party’s growing strength in Kogi State.

He noted that the party is fully prepared to field candidates in all senatorial districts, federal constituencies, and state assembly seats in the 2027 general elections.

Describing the PDP as “the new bride of Kogi people,” Gambo pointed to what he called a steady wave of defections from other political parties into the PDP in recent weeks.

“At the last count, we have received over 22,000 defectors from opposition parties across Kogi Central and Kogi East. The response has been overwhelming,” he stated.

The chairman added that the party is strategically positioning itself to reclaim power in the state, emphasizing that the PDP has reawakened and is fast becoming the preferred political platform for key stakeholders and residents across Kogi.
