Ortom Congratulates Prof. Aghalino on Appointment as Dennis Osadebay University VC
Former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has congratulated Professor Samuel Ovuete Aghalino on his appointment as the substantive Vice Chancellor of Dennis Osadebay University.
In a congratulatory letter dated May 11, 2026, addressed to the newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Ortom described the appointment as a fitting recognition of Professor Aghalino’s outstanding contributions to scholarship, academic leadership and national intellectual development over the years.
The former governor noted that Aghalino, a distinguished Professor of History at the University of Ilorin and former President of the Historical Society of Nigeria, had consistently demonstrated commitment to academic excellence, institutional growth and the advancement of historical knowledge in Nigeria and beyond.
Ortom further praised the academic for his scholarly engagements in the areas of oil, gas, environmental history and socio-economic studies of the Niger Delta, saying the works had earned him national and international recognition.
According to him, Professor Aghalino’s wealth of experience, visionary leadership and intellectual depth would reposition Dennis Osadebay University for greater academic excellence, innovation and global relevance.
He added that the appointment had attracted widespread commendation from colleagues, stakeholders and admirers within and outside the academic community.
The former Benue governor, on behalf of his family and associates, wished the new Vice Chancellor a successful, impactful and fulfilling tenure in office.
