The university, in a disclaimer issued by its Director of Public Affairs, Uredo Omale, clarified that the statement making the rounds did not originate from the institution and should not be regarded as its official position.
According to the management, the university’s position has consistently been that the current school fee arrangement represents the implementation of a unified school fee payment policy approved by the Kogi State Government for the state’s three public universities.
The management further explained that failure to implement duly approved government directives, particularly those concerning financial administration, could attract audit queries or other appropriate scrutiny.
It noted that similar issues relating to the non-implementation of government directives on other financial matters within the university had also attracted attention.
However, the university stressed that the explanation should not be interpreted as an attempt to attribute the school fee policy to the Office of the Auditor-General.
The management therefore urged members of the public to disregard claims linking the state’s Auditor-General’s office directly to the school fee arrangement.
It also advised students, parents, guardians and other stakeholders to rely on verified information disseminated through the university’s authorised communication channels to avoid the spread of misinformation.
The disclaimer was signed by Uredo Omale, Director of Public Affairs, Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba.
