Labour Party Unveils Dr. Chibuzo Okereke as 2027 Presidential Candidate

The Labour Party, LP, has formally announced Dr. Chibuzo Okereke as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, following what the party described as a broad-based consensus among its members and stakeholders.
The announcement was made in Abuja on Friday, May 30, 2026, with party leaders affirming their support for the governance expert and policy strategist as the party’s flagbearer for the next presidential contest.
In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Ken Eluma Asogwa, Dr. Okereke was presented as a seasoned public policy analyst, legislative governance specialist and reform advocate with extensive experience in governance and institutional development.
According to the party, Dr. Okereke has earned national recognition for his contributions to public policy formulation, legislative governance and democratic reforms.
He currently serves as President of ERGAF-AFRICA Legislative Governance Innovation and Policy Hub, a leading policy and legislative research institution.
The statement further noted that he works as a legislative consultant to key committees and ranking members of the National Assembly, providing expert advice on governance and policy matters.
In the academic sphere, Dr. Okereke is a Resident Lecturer in the Department of Public Policy and Administration at Miva Open University, Abuja, where he mentors and trains future public administrators and policy professionals.
The Labour Party highlighted his strong academic credentials, noting that he holds a PhD in Legislative Governance Studies as well as Master’s degrees in Public Administration and Legislative Studies, all obtained with distinction.
The party also described him as a respected commentator on governance, accountability and national development issues, whose insights have featured prominently on national and international media platforms.
Beyond his professional and academic accomplishments, Dr. Okereke was commended for his commitment to youth empowerment, educational advancement and democratic governance.
