Democracy Day: Oluchi Oparah Urges Nigerians to Uphold Unity, Democratic Values

As Nigerians commemorate the 2026 Democracy Day celebration, the National Organizing Secretary of the Labour Party, Oluchi Oparah, has extended warm greetings and best wishes to citizens across the country, urging them to remain committed to the ideals of democracy and national unity.

In her Democracy Day message issued on June 12, 2026, Oparah described the occasion as an important moment for reflection on Nigeria’s democratic journey, while celebrating the resilience, courage, and determination of the Nigerian people.

She noted that democracy can only thrive when citizens actively participate in governance, uphold the rule of law, and promote peaceful coexistence in their communities.

According to her, despite the numerous challenges confronting the nation, Nigerians must remain hopeful and united in their resolve to build a stronger, more prosperous, and inclusive country.

Oparah also called on citizens to honour the sacrifices of those who fought for democratic governance by promoting peace, accountability, responsible leadership, and active citizenship.

She stressed that strengthening democratic institutions remains essential to creating a future that truly reflects the hopes and aspirations of all Nigerians.
