Otughievwen Community Elects New Leadership as Ogedegbe Emerges Chairman

The Otughievwen Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area has successfully concluded its 2026 general election, with Comrade Jacob Ogedegbe emerging as the new Chairman of the community.

According to the official election report submitted to the local government council, the election was conducted on June 3, 2026, at the Otughievwen Town Hall under a peaceful and orderly atmosphere.

The report stated that candidates vying for various positions were duly screened and accredited by the Electoral Committee led by Mr. Gabriel Mukoro before the commencement of voting.

At the end of the exercise, Comrade Ogedegbe secured a decisive victory, polling 10 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Mr. Sunday Udurume, who garnered 1 vote, while another candidate received 4 votes.

The election also produced several unopposed officers who will serve in key leadership positions within the community. They include Mr. Adakpor Jaho as Treasurer, Pastor Solomon Jiruona as Assistant Secretary, Mr. Henry Sajini as Public Relations Officer I, Mrs. Faith Mrakpor as Public Relations Officer II, and Pastor Edewor Mukoro as Auditor.

Community stakeholders described the electoral process as peaceful, transparent, and consistent with the provisions of the Otughievwen Community Constitution.

They called on all contestants and their supporters to accept the outcome in good faith and work collectively toward the progress and development of the community.

The election results have since gained broad acceptance among residents, with many appealing for unity and an end to disputes arising from the exercise.
