Dennis Osadebay University has emerged as one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing universities, thanks to sustained investment and strategic support from the administration of Sheriff Oborevwori, Senior Policy Adviser on Labour Relations and SERVICOM, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, has said.

Solomon stated this during an interactive session on the Service Compact with All Nigerians (SERVICOM) at the university, where he praised the Delta State Government’s renewed commitment to strengthening service delivery and institutional efficiency across public establishments.

He said the reintroduction of SERVICOM by Governor Oborevwori demonstrates a firm commitment to accountability, efficiency and quality service in governance.

According to Solomon, while the state government has continued to enhance the institution through improved infrastructure and increased funding, members of the university community must also play their part by upholding discipline, decent dressing and proper conduct.

He applauded the university’s management for the remarkable progress recorded since its establishment, urging them to sustain the momentum and preserve the standards already achieved for future generations.

The former Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly also decried the abuse of school-run concessions granted to public servants.

He noted that although the policy was introduced to enable working parents pick up their children from school, some civil servants exploit the privilege by failing to return to duty afterwards, while others continue to claim the concession despite no longer having school-age children.

“SERVICOM is about delivering quality service that is timely, fair and acceptable to the people,” Solomon said, stressing the need for the university to maintain excellence in service delivery as a cornerstone of institutional growth and good governance.

He further assured the institution of continued support from Governor Oborevwori, especially in the area of infrastructure development for the Faculty of Science and other academic units.

Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor of Dennis Osadebay University, Samuel Ovuete Aghalino, represented by Patrick Ajieh, said the institution, though young, is determined to rank among world-class universities with adequate support.

He reaffirmed the university’s readiness to deepen collaboration with the Delta State Government in advancing Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda through quality education, innovation and exceptional service delivery.
