Nasarawa Youths Slam North Central Group Over Alleged Attacks on SGF George Akume
A youth group operating under the banner of Akume Tiv Youth Like Minds in Nasarawa State has strongly condemned recent allegations made against the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, by the North Central Group, describing the accusations as baseless and politically motivated.
The group alleged that the attacks were orchestrated to distract the SGF from his national responsibilities and undermine his efforts toward promoting peace, unity, and development across Nigeria.

Speaking through a statement signed by its leader, Comrade Cletus Tabulo, and made available to journalists in Lafia on Tuesday, the group maintained that Senator Akume’s leadership has consistently focused on fostering national cohesion rather than creating division.
According to Tabulo, the allegations lack credible evidence and are intended to create unnecessary tension and mistrust among Nigerians.
“Our attention has been drawn to the recent social media publication credited to the North Central Group accusing the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, over the alleged creation of an agency known as the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council.
“We categorically reject these allegations and call on the faceless North Central Group to steer clear of the SGF so he can remain focused on his national assignment,” the statement read.
The group further warned that sustained public attacks and unfounded accusations against senior government officials could distract the Federal Government from addressing critical national challenges, including insecurity, education, youth employment, and cultural preservation.
Tabulo emphasized that Nigerians should prioritize constructive engagement, dialogue, and collaboration instead of actions capable of fueling division.
He urged the North Central Group to channel its concerns through appropriate communication channels while promoting understanding and peaceful coexistence among citizens.
“This serves as a reminder of the importance of unity and national focus. We urge the group to refrain from making unsubstantiated claims against the SGF and instead contribute positively to initiatives that promote meaningful development for Nigerians,” he added.
The reaction follows recent claims by the North Central Group alleging that Senator George Akume was involved in the creation of an entity referred to as the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, an allegation the Nasarawa-based youth group has dismissed as unfounded.
